Referee named for Champions League match between Real Madrid and Roma
According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday October 12, 2026, French referee François Letexier has been appointed to officiate Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Roma on Wednesday, October 14.
The match will take place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, with kick-off scheduled for 9:00 pm local time. It will be the second matchday of the Champions League campaign.
Letexier is no stranger to Real Madrid, having previously officiated the Spanish giants in several high-profile European fixtures. His past assignments include their 2-0 victory over Chelsea in the 2022/23 quarter-finals and a 3-3 draw against Manchester City in the first leg of the 2023/24 quarter-finals.
However, he was also in charge when Madrid lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the 2024/25 league phase and suffered a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal in the second leg of the 2024/25 quarter-finals.
The French official will referee a Real Madrid match in Europe’s top competition for the seventh time, according to the report.
Real Madrid will be aiming for a positive result against Roma as they look to strengthen their position in the Champions League, while the Italian side will hope to make the most of playing at home.
