Petition filed in Peshawar High Court against KP governor’s rule, emergency

A petition challenging the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been filed in the Peshawar High Court, seeking to declare the measures unconstitutional and illegal.

The petition, filed by Advocate Salman, names the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as respondents.

The petitioner argued that the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in the province was unconstitutional, illegal and mala fide, violating fundamental rights and the democratic mandate.

The petition requested the court to declare the measures null, void and illegal.

It also sought to suspend the governor’s rule declaration until the court delivers its final verdict.
