“In Any Country Where They Dislike Somebody and the Person Gets Re-Elected, It’s an Error” – Kenneth Okonkwo

“In Any Country Where They Dislike Somebody and the Person Gets Re-Elected, It’s an Error” – Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo has argued that re-electing a president whom voters dislike is an error, questioning how such an outcome could occur.

Speaking on Channels Television, the lawyer and political commentator made the remark during a discussion about a statement attributed to The Economist that Nigerians may dislike President Bola Tinubu but could still re-elect him.

“In any country where they dislike somebody and the person gets re-elected, it’s an error. Something is wrong somewhere,” Okonkwo said.

During the discussion, another participant suggested that some Nigerians might not vote because they believe their votes would not count. Okonkwo maintained that a president’s re-election despite being disliked by the electorate should not be regarded as a normal outcome.

The discussion also touched on a statement attributed to Chimeka, who reportedly said that only a thief or a madman would not vote for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okonkwo defended the remark, saying, “He said the truth,” while questioning why some people were criticising Chimeka over the statement.
