“After 70 Years of Broadcasting, Are We Still?” — Cudjoe Reacts to GTV’s Sudden Programme Changes
President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has questioned the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s (GBC) television station, GTV, over what he described as unexpected changes in its broadcast schedule.
In a post on his official Facebook page on Monday, October 12, 2026, Franklin Cudjoe shared his experience while watching GTV, raising concerns about how the station handled the transition between different programmes.
According to him, he was watching the station because he wanted to follow the live broadcast of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). However, he expressed surprise when the station switched to another programme without any announcement.
Cudjoe explained that after about 30 minutes of broadcasting the PAC proceedings, GTV suddenly switched to a programme titled Accountability Series at Jubilee House.
He further stated that after approximately another 30 minutes, the station switched again to announce the results of Alpha Lotto without any prompting or prior announcement.
The unexpected changes prompted him to question whether the national broadcaster had made sufficient progress in its broadcasting operations after more than 70 years of service.
In his post, Cudjoe wrote: “This is after more than 70 years of broadcasting. Are we still……🤣🤣🤣🤣”
His comments appeared to express frustration and disbelief over the station’s handling of its programmes, particularly the lack of announcements before changing from one broadcast to another.
The post also attracted reactions from social media users, with some suggesting that they had experienced similar confusion while watching the station.
One Facebook user, reacting to Cudjoe’s observation, wrote: “Lol..l thought l was the only one wondering ..herh GTV, panin de panin..”
The reaction suggested that other viewers had also noticed or questioned the station’s broadcasting practices.
Cudjoe’s post has once again drawn attention to concerns about programme scheduling, communication with viewers and the need for professionalism in public broadcasting.
As a national broadcaster, GTV plays an important role in providing Ghanaians with news, public affairs programmes and other information of national interest.
