Wanted To Propose To Auntie Naa When I First Met Her, But I Was Broke And Jobless– Odifour Reveals

According to a report by Ghbase News on Monday October 12, 2026, Ghanaian media personality Odifour has recounted how his first encounter with broadcaster Auntie Naa left him so attracted to her that he considered proposing to her, despite struggling financially and searching for a job at the time.

Odifour, whose real name is Kwabena Yeboah, shared the story while appearing on Auntie Naa’s programme, where he reflected on the circumstances that brought them together and how the unexpected meeting eventually opened the door to his broadcasting career.

According to Odifour, the encounter took place near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) after he had returned from Libya without money and was struggling to find his feet.

With no stable source of income, he was desperately looking for employment and was prepared to take up any available opportunity, including working as a driver or a trotro mate, to earn a living.

It was during this difficult period that he spotted Auntie Naa on her way to work. He said he was immediately attracted to her appearance and, at the time, even considered approaching her with a marriage proposal.

However, recognising his financial difficulties and the uncertainty surrounding his future, he decided to approach her with a different request.

Rather than expressing his romantic interest, Odifour asked Auntie Naa if she could help him find a job.

He recounted that Auntie Naa explained she was not an employer and was then working with fellow broadcaster Mama Efe.

Despite being unable to offer him employment directly, she reportedly showed him kindness when he subsequently asked her for money.

According to Odifour, Auntie Naa gave him some cash and also shared her telephone number with him, creating an opportunity for them to remain in contact.

That simple act of kindness eventually became a turning point in his life.

Odifour said he waited for approximately two weeks before calling her. During their conversation, he learnt that she was preparing to move to Oyerepa FM, a development that would later prove significant for his career.

He explained that Auntie Naa subsequently invited him to join her team, giving him an opportunity to explore broadcasting at a time when he was still trying to establish himself professionally.

Although he had secured an opportunity to work with the team, Odifour said he was not initially a regular panellist on the programme. His breakthrough came unexpectedly when one of the regular panellists was absent.

With a seat available on the programme, he joined the discussion and contributed his views on the issues being discussed.

His presentation and analysis reportedly impressed the team, allowing him to demonstrate his ability and gradually establish himself as a contributor to the programme.

The experience marked the beginning of his journey into broadcasting, transforming what started as a search for financial assistance into an opportunity to build a career in the media industry.

Odifour’s account highlights how a chance encounter and a small gesture of assistance can sometimes lead to opportunities that change the direction of a person’s life.

What began as an ordinary meeting near KNUST, at a time when he had returned from Libya with little money and no job, eventually connected him to a broadcasting opportunity through Auntie Naa.

His revelation also offers a glimpse into the challenges he faced before gaining a foothold in the media industry, showing that his entry into broadcasting was not necessarily the result of a carefully planned career path but rather an unexpected opportunity that emerged from a difficult period in his life.
