Victor AD apologises to Tiwa Savage over unreleased ‘Wetin We Gain’ remix
Singer Victor AD has apologised to his senior colleague, Tiwa Savage, over the unreleased remix of his hit song, ‘Wetin We Gain’, acknowledging that he should have taken responsibility for how the project turned out a long time ago.
The singer, whose real name is Victor Adere, issued the apology in an open letter shared on social media, where he thanked Tiwa for contributing a verse to the song, which was never officially released.
He admitted that he could offer explanations for why the remix did not see the light of day, but said they would not outweigh the effort, love and creativity Tiwa put into the project.
He wrote, “An Open Letter to Mama Jam Jam, @TiwaSavage ❤️I should have done this a long time ago, but It’s never too late to take accountability for my actions.Thank you, Mama, for blessing my song ‘Wetin We Gain’ with a verse. Unfortunately, the remix never saw the light of day.
“I could go on and on explaining why it didn’t happen, but none of those explanations matters more than the genuine effort, love, and creativity you poured into making the song beautiful. For that, I’m truly sorry about how things turned out.
“Beyond this, I want to use this opportunity to appreciate you for everything you’ve done for the culture and for the doors you’ve opened for Afrobeats. Your impact is undeniable, and I’ll never take your contribution to my journey for granted.
“I love and appreciate you, Mama.”
Tiwa responded in the comment section, thanking Victor AD for the letter and indicating that she held no hard feelings over the matter.
She wrote, “I appreciate this. God knows the reason for everything. All love”.
In 2019, Victor AD also spoke about declining a proposed remix of the song featuring Davido, saying he wanted to preserve the original track’s identity. He instead collaborated with Davido on ‘Tire You’, which was released that year.
