The Director of Media of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Bayelsa chapter, Udengs Eradiri, has fired back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Vice-Presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, declaring that supporters of President Bola Tinubu are “madly in love” with him and will re-elect him in 2027.

Eradiri described as reckless and irresponsible, a statement credited to Amaechi that only thieves and mad people would vote for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

He accused the former Rivers governor and minister of transportation of hypocrisy, alleging that Amaechi is now insulting Nigerians he had previously persuaded to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) when Tinubu was providing leadership for the party.

Speaking in reaction to Amaechi’s comment, Eradiri said Tinubu deserved a second term to consolidate the reforms and transformation he believed the President had initiated.

𝗣𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗼 𝗫𝗜𝗩 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲

Pope Leo XIV on Sunday announced he would be operated on “in the coming days” for a lump on his lung, saying it had been detected “at a very early stage.”

“During recent medical checks, a nodule on my lung was found. It has been detected at a very early stage and is very localised,” the 71-year-old said in a weekly address in St Peter’s Square.

“The doctors believe it would be right to intervene and so, following their advice, I have decided to have the operation to remove it. The operation is already planned in the coming days,” he said.

Following the pope’s statement during his Angelus prayers, the Vatican press office said the expected recovery time from the operation would be around a week.

𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗣 𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗕𝗡 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 $6.23𝗺 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀, 𝗡1.63𝘁𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has sued the Central Bank of Nigeria over its alleged failure to account for $6.23m in election-related funds and more than N1.63tn in other public funds flagged in the Auditor-General of the Federation’s 2023 annual report.

SERAP is seeking a court order compelling the CBN to account for the funds, disclose the beneficiaries and repayment status of affected transactions, and identify officials responsible for approving and disbursing the money.

The organisation disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare.

According to SERAP, the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2450/2026, was filed on Friday at the Federal High Court in Abuja following findings documented in Volume II of the Auditor-General’s 2023 Annual Report, published on August 7, 2026.

Iranian authorities have executed a man for killing a police officer who was run over by a vehicle during clashes four years ago, the judiciary said Sunday.

The country has ramped up executions since the outbreak of the Middle East war in February and since anti-government protests erupted late last year.

“The death sentence for the killer of Reza Ehterami, a police officer serving in Iran’s police emergency unit, has been carried out,” the judiciary’s Mizan Online website cited local prosecutor Aref Akbari as saying.

The execution went ahead after an investigation and trial, with the Supreme Court upholding the verdict, Akbari said.
