TMC MP Abhishek Gets Fresh Summons From Cops

Kolkata: Diamond Harbour Trinamul Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee has been summoned again for questioning by the Shakespeare Sarani police station on Monday in the case of unauthorised billboard removal in August from his party office on Camac Street in the city.

On Sunday, a team of cops visited Mr Banerjee’s residence in Kalighat area and served him the notice a day after his return to the city from New Delhi.

They earlier visited the same address on October 7 to deliver the summons.

Mr Banerjee was however in New Delhi then to attend the INDIA bloc’s meeting with his aunt and former chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

According to sources, the police want to quiz the young MP afresh in connection with one of the three cases lodged over the billboard removal.

Mr Banerjee earlier faced questioning by the cops at Shakespeare Sarani police station in the case after physically appearing before them last month.

Besides, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien was also summoned and questioned in the same case.
