Small traders alloted shops at Sahulat Bazaar
Gujar khan – Construction of a Sahulat Bazaar to provide essential commodities at affordable prices is a flagship project of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, MPA Raja Shauket Aziz Bhatti said on the occasion of the allotment of shops to small traders through a draw.
The shops are being allotted to traders affected by the demolition of kiosks falling within the right of way (ROW) during the construction of two underpasses on GT Road in Gujar Khan.
Assistant Commissioner Syeda Zeneb Hussain supervised the draw for the allotment of 39 shops to the affected traders.

She said a transparent and fair procedure had been adopted in consultation with the affected traders, with no room for influence or sifarish. The draw was conducted on the spot, and the names of successful applicants were announced immediately.
She said construction quality and timely completion were being prioritised. Upon completion, the state-of-the-art Sahulat Bazaar would contribute to commercial activities in a clean and organised environment while facilitating price control and providing affordable goods to consumers.

Rana Sohail Anjum, in charge of the project under the Sahulat Bazaar Authority, said the first phase, comprising 39 shops, was nearing completion.
He said the shopping centre would feature a children’s park, public toilets and a seating area to facilitate women, senior citizens and children. Online shopping and home delivery services would also be introduced for local residents.
He added that the shopping centre was expected to be completed within a month.
