Recurrent bird flu in AP: Past genetic clues point to a complex cross-country history
Visakhapatnam : The bird flu outbreak confirmed at a poultry farm in Anantapur this week has revived questions about the recurrence of H5N1 infections in Andhra Pradesh . One possible genetic clue is clade 2.3.2.1a, which was identified in poultry samples from the state in 2024. It was also detected in the virus that killed a two-year-old girl from Palnadu district in March 2025.
