Real Madrid Superstar Wins The Man of The Match Award After His Superb Display

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Yan Diomande was named Man of the Match after Real Madrid secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu, with his decisive contribution helping the hosts claim all three points.

Diomande started the encounter and worked to make an impact against a well-organised Villarreal defence. His movement and attacking efforts helped Real Madrid search for an opening goal during a frustrating first half.

Madrid created several opportunities before the break, with Kylian Mbappé hitting the post in the seventh minute before missing another chance in the 21st minute. However, Villarreal remained defensively disciplined and prevented the hosts from finding the net.

Diomande continued to search for a breakthrough after the restart and eventually scored in the 62nd minute. His effort was initially reviewed by the referee using the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system before the goal was confirmed, giving Real Madrid a crucial lead.

The goal proved decisive in a closely contested encounter in which Madrid struggled to convert their attacking pressure into clear-cut chances. Diomande’s finishing ultimately separated the two teams and put the hosts in a strong position to secure victory.

Vinícius Júnior appeared to extend Madrid’s advantage in the 71st minute, but his effort was ruled out following a VAR review that identified a foul in the build-up. The Brazilian forward was then sent off in the 73rd minute, leaving Real Madrid with ten players for the remainder of the match.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Madrid defended their narrow lead until the final whistle. Villarreal pushed for an equaliser, but the home side remained resilient to secure the victory.

Diomande’s match-winning goal and overall performance earned him the Man of the Match award, recognising his decisive role in Real Madrid’s hard-fought triumph over Villarreal.
