Police say man attempted to escape, fight police during warrant arrest
MOUNT VERNON, Ind. (WEHT) — Two men have been arrested on meth possession charges after police were serving an arrest warrant.
According to the Mount Vernon Police Department, officers were notified that Johnnie WyattJr., 61, was wanted out of Marion County. While police were searching more Wyatt, they received a tip from their tip line about drug activity in the 100 block of Kimball Street, where police say they found Wyatt.
When officers told Wyatt about the warrant, he asked officers if he could use the bathroom before they could leave. As officers were escorting him to the restroom, they say he attempted to get away into another room, leading to a struggle with officers.
Police say he was screaming profanities at officers, yelled for another person in the home and physically fought to not be handcuffed. Officers were eventually able to handcuff him and walk him out of the home.
Police went back in the home and say they found a glass pipe that contained suspectedmethamphetamine residue and Marion Overton, 56, sleeping inside. Police woke Overton and detained him.
During a search of the home police say they found d baggies, a plastic capsule, and a glass bong all containing suspected methamphetamine. Officers also located several items of drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana.
Wyatt and Overton were arrested and booked into the Posey County Jail.
