The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that Pakistan Railways is best placed to explain the underlying reasons for the difficulties faced by its pensioners in obtaining ‘Proof of Life’ certificates. However, NADRA has developed the technological platform required to provide pensioners with access to this digital facility.
Speaking during a podcast, NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali said that a project is underway to provide digital Proof of Life certificate services to pensioners affiliated with various institutions across the country. However, given the large number of Pakistan Railways pensioners, it is essential to bring the railway department on board as part of the initiative.
He explained that NADRA has completed the work falling within its responsibilities, while final approval from Pakistan Railways is still awaited.

Responding to a question, he said that NADRA and Pakistan Railways would need to work together on the project before railway pensioners could be included in the digital service.
He further stated that once Pakistan Railways grants approval to move the project forward, its pensioners will be incorporated into the digital Proof of Life system as soon as possible.
According to officials, NADRA has completed the necessary technical arrangements on its part. The practical launch of the facility now requires coordination and joint efforts between the two institutions.
