MRS, Other Nigerian Filling Stations Increase Petrol Pump Prices, Announce New Rates
According to a report by DAILY POST on Sunday 11 October 2026; Petrol consumers in Abuja have been hit with fresh price increases as MRS, Ranoil and AA Rano filling stations raised their pump prices despite the Federal Government’s proposed fuel discount initiative.
According to a market survey, MRS filling stations increased their petrol price from ₦1,370 to ₦1,409 per litre, adding ₦39 to the previous rate.
The adjustment has taken effect at several MRS outlets, including those in Kubwa, Katampe and Gwarimpa, as well as other locations within the Federal Capital Territory.
Ranoil and AA Rano also reviewed their prices upward, raising the cost of petrol from ₦1,400 to ₦1,410 per litre, representing an increase of ₦10.
The latest development comes as the Federal Government considers a petrol discount arrangement that would see the product sold for ₦1,350 per litre at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) filling stations.
Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele had announced the proposed initiative, which has prompted fuel marketers to urge the government to extend the price reduction to other filling stations across the country.
The marketers argue that including more retail outlets would enable a wider section of the public to benefit from the proposed intervention.
The latest increases also come after petrol prices recorded a downward movement during the previous week, raising fresh questions about the stability of pump prices.
Meanwhile, global crude oil prices remained high, with Brent crude trading at approximately $104 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) selling at around $91 per barrel.
The fresh adjustments are likely to increase fuel expenses for motorists and commuters, particularly as petrol prices continue to influence transportation fares and the cost of goods and services.
