Meet Jon Favreau’s three children who all followed in his Hollywood footsteps, including son who appeared in Iron Man 2

LEAVE A COMMENT Jon Favreau has spent decades building worlds on screen, from superhero blockbusters like Iron Man to remaking Disney classics such as The Lion King. But away from the big screen, he is a dedicated family man.

The actor and director married Joya Tillem in 2000, and the couple have three children: Max, Madeleine and Brighton Rose. Although he has a high profile career, Jon has kept his children remarkably private, preferring for them to grow up as normally as possible. However, they have made their own small foray into the industry, with minor roles and voice acting in their famous dad's work.

Max, Jon and Joya’s eldest child, was born in 2001 and was the first of the Favreau children to appear on screen. He played a young Buddy in Elf, the Christmas comedy his father directed. Meanwhile, Jon himself cameos in the film as the doctor who runs Buddy’s paternity test. Max also had a small part in Iron Man 2, and IMDb lists a voice credit in G-Force (2009). Since those childhood roles, he appears to have stayed out of the public eye.

Madeleine, born in 2003, is the only sibling to have picked up further film work since The Jungle Book, with a credit for the short film Tree Hugger in 2020. She graduated from Brown University in 2025 and has launched her own makeup line, called Appledoll.

Jon Favreau and his wife Joya welcomed their youngest daughter in 2006

Brighton Rose, the youngest, was born in 2006. Her only known acting credit is her Jungle Book voice work and a role as Maura in the 2015 film Aztec Revenge. Like her siblings, she has been raised largely away from cameras, so little else is known about her life and she has not attended public events.

Jon has spoken candidly about fatherhood and the effort he has had to put in to raising his children alongside his busy career. Speaking to Tim Ferriss in 2015, he described the effort of “being very present as you spend time with your kids”, which in his case meant not checking emails while tucking them in.

That thinking inspired his 2014 movie Chef. Jon said the film grew from two ideas colliding: a story set in the restaurant world, and something about mindfulness and parenting, and what happens when a career has a big knock-on effect on the people that really matter. The film also left a mark at home, with Jon revealing that he makes the film’s famous sandwiches for his own children.
