MaMkhize clapped back at her decision to show support to South African labels, instead of international fashion houses…

0 MaMkhize has clapped back at claims she ‘downgraded’. Images via IG Shauwn Mkhize, also known as MaMkhize, has clapped back that she downgraded from her luxury lifestyle after her much of her personal items were auctioned off to pay her R40 million SARS debt.

The businesswoman and soccer club boss has kept a low profile in recent months amid allegations of financial woes.

Following a hiatus, MaMkhize announced her return to Instagram with a video that responded to her critics.

In the clip, the 51-year-old smashed a bottle of champagne before rolling her designer luggage into the boot of her BMW.

She captioned the clip: “Crushing all bad energies and making room for new beginnings. ✈️✨ Sometimes you just need to take a short left, switch off and get moving.

MaMkhize stated that she was “supporting sisterhood” by publicly endorsing DJ Zinhle’s ERA travelling luggage and South African clothing label AM Collection.

She added: “Stopping Pull Down syndrome, embarrassing our own always”.

MaMkhize’s decision to support local rather than international fashion houses, like Gucci, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana, was not lost on her followers.

When one follower commented, “From Louis Vuitton to Era”, MaMkhize clapped back: “Era is from my sister. Why is there a problem when I support her? I don’t know Louis Vuitton, but I know Zinhle, hence I go loud with her brand”.

Over the years, MaMkhize has courted controversy for all the wrong reasons, with allegations of tax evasion, tender fraud, corruption, and forgery.

In 2024, the businesswoman’s properties were raided during a search-and-seizure operation authorised by SARS and granted by the High Court.

Through her family’s Shandi Trust, MaMkhize was reported to owe around R40 million in unpaid taxes.

Her luxury assets, like cars, handbags, furniture, specialised equipment, and even alcohol, were auctioned off to help settle the debt.

MaMkhize’s soccer club, Royal AM FC, was placed under curatorship, and, after failed bids, was expelled by the PSL.
