Lawyer Wahome Thuku Says Orengo Wasn’t Ready to be Siaya Governor, Speaks On Raila’s Involvement

Lawyer Wahome Thuku has once again stirred political debate after making remarks about Siaya Governor James Orengo, drawing parallels between his leadership style and that of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

In a post shared on social media, Thuku claimed that someone told him Governor Orengo is already tired of being Governor, saying he did not expect the demanding nature of the office and was not ready for the responsibilities that come with it.

According to Thuku, Orengo got the job easily because of his close friendship with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, but even Raila himself had warned him and told him clearly that he was not cut for that office.

Thuku argued that Orengo’s politics is that of having fun, talking and talking without doing tangible work.

He said the Siaya Governor would love a situation where every day is a street demonstration, a public rally, a parliamentary plenary, or an NGO seminar, rather than sitting in office with technocrats to discuss development and sourcing of funds.

“Someone said Governor James Orengo is already tired of being Governor. He didn’t expect it. He was not ready for responsibilities but being Raila’s friend, he could get the job easily. But even Raila warned him and told him clearly that he was not cut for that office,” Thuku said.

He added: “Orengo’s politics is that of having fun. Talking and talking and not doing. Orengo would love a situation where every day is a street demo, a public rally, a parliamentary plenary, an NGO seminar…. Not a day to seat in office with technocrats to discuss tangible development and sourcing of funds.”

Thuku said it is the same case for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
