Kameme FM Journalist Muthoni Comes to Defence of Nyandarua MCA Who Struggled to Speak English

Kameme FM journalist Muthoni Wa Kirumba has defended Nyandarua MCA Milkah Nyambura after a video of her struggling to speak English during a session at the Nyandarua County Assembly attracted reactions online.

The clip saw some Kenyans make fun of the MCA’s English, with others questioning her ability to express herself during the assembly session.

However, Muthoni has told off those mocking Nyambura, saying that speaking fluent English does not necessarily mean someone is intelligent or educated.

The journalist admitted that she initially found the clip amusing but later changed her mind and chose to stand with the MCA.

Muthoni pointed out that many successful people, including world leaders, do not speak English fluently and often rely on translators when communicating with people who speak different languages.

She argued that struggling with English should not be a reason to dismiss someone’s abilities, noting that she, too, cannot speak Kalenjin or Abagusii fluently.

“Kudos Nyambura with, wasituletee Nye bye,” she said.

Her message was that language should not be confused with intelligence, especially when judging people who have been elected to represent others.

Muthoni also used humour to defend Nyambura, reminding Kenyans that English was introduced during the colonial period and is simply one of the many languages people learn.

She ended her message by praising the MCA and urging Kenyans to stop making fun of her.

This follows the circulation of the assembly clip, which drew attention to Nyambura’s spoken English rather than the business being discussed during the session.

For Muthoni, Kenyans should give the MCA a break instead of turning her difficulty with English into a reason to ridicule her.
