Kebbi Governor Flags Off Construction of 34.7km Road Projects

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has flagged off the construction of two major road projects totaling thirty-four point seven kilometers across Birnin Kebbi and Argungu local government areas to boost rural infrastructure and local trade.

According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, October 11, 2026, while launching the infrastructure drive, the governor explained that the projects would significantly enhance rural connectivity, improve agricultural transportation, and stimulate economic growth.

The road development initiative includes the two-kilometer Tarasa-Birnin Kebbi road scheduled for completion in six months alongside the thirty-two point seven-kilometer Birnin Lafiya-Gulma-Natsini road slated for completion within twelve months.

Governor Idris emphasized that his administration remains dedicated to delivering democratic benefits to both urban and rural communities by continuously expanding critical road infrastructure networks to enhance the overall welfare of residents.

Works Commissioner Umar Farouk Muslim commended the governor for approving the vital road constructions, noting that the new routes will alleviate transportation difficulties while facilitating the smooth transit of farm produce to markets.

The commissioner revealed that the longer road project was awarded to ABK Synage Construction Company, adding that the ministry will closely monitor execution to guarantee strict compliance with quality standards and timelines.

Muslim called on members of the benefiting communities to extend full cooperation to the construction contractors, ensuring smooth project execution so that local farmers and traders can quickly enjoy the economic benefits.
