Just In: Vinícius Jr. faces possible suspension following red card against Villarreal

Real Madrid superstar Vinícius Jr. is facing the possibility of missing the highly anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona following his controversial red card against Villarreal.

According to a post shared by a transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his verified Facebook page the Brazilian winger could receive a suspension of up to three matches, although the final punishment will depend on the disciplinary committee’s decision.

The incident occurred during Real Madrid’s La Liga encounter with Villarreal, when Vinícius was sent off for pulling the hair of an opposing player, Saliba. The referee initially allowed play to continue before reviewing the incident with the assistance of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), ultimately deciding to show the Brazilian a red card.

However, the incident itself was not the only concern for the Real Madrid forward. The referee’s official match report also highlighted Vinícius’ reaction following his dismissal, describing his behaviour as aggressive.

According to the report, the Brazilian continued protesting the referee’s decision loudly and approached the official in an aggressive manner. His teammates reportedly had to intervene to prevent the situation from escalating further.

This additional detail could prove crucial when the disciplinary committee determines the length of his suspension. While a shorter ban remains possible, reports suggest that Vinícius could face a two- or three-match suspension, potentially ruling him out of El Clásico on October 25.

Losing the Brazilian would represent a significant setback for Real Madrid, given his importance to their attacking play and ability to influence major matches.

For now, Madrid supporters must wait for the official disciplinary decision.
