INEC Final List: NDC Reveals Real Reason Behind Omission Of Kaduna Guber Candidate

According to a report by The Punch on Sunday, October 11, 2026, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has attributed the exclusion of its Kaduna State governorship candidate, Senator Danjuma La’ah, from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s final list for the 2027 general election to a mix-up during online name registration.

The official list, which was signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, features 16 governorship candidates and their running mates but conspicuously leaves out La’ah.

This omission follows an earlier internal disagreement between La’ah and lawyer Mohammed Sani Abbas over who rightfully holds the party’s ticket.

Addressing the issue on Sunday, Kaduna State NDC Chairman, Mordecai Ibrahim, explained that recurring network glitches forced multiple individuals to attempt the candidate’s online registration, resulting in conflicting entries.

“The problem is that there was a mix-up of names. The person who registered him made a mistake because, each time there were network issues, we got several people to try registering him,” Ibrahim stated.

According to the chairman, the party is actively working to prove that Danjuma Tella La’ah and Danjuma La’ah refer to the same individual.

While remaining optimistic that the error will be corrected, Ibrahim noted that the party is prepared to pursue legal options if administrative remedies fail, citing precedents where courts ordered last-minute ballot inclusions.

The latest development adds to a series of candidate documentation hurdles facing the opposition party across different states as the 2027 political race gathers momentum.

Other candidates who successfully made the Kaduna list include Sani Uba of the All Progressives Congress, Isa Ashiru of the African Democratic Congress, and Bawa Usman of the Peoples Democratic Party.
