ECP DG martyred in Tank gun attack
ISLAMABAD – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Director General Shamshad Khan was martyred in a terrorist attack in Tank district when unidentified armed men opened fire on him.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the ECP described the incident as a targeted killing, saying the deceased officer was an honest, upright and dedicated public servant who had no personal enmity with anyone.
The commission said Shamshad Khan commanded great respect among his colleagues and associates for his professional conduct and integrity. Chief Election Commissioner, members of the ECP, the commission’s secretary and all its employees expressed profound sorrow and grief over the tragic incident. The Chief Election Commissioner extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, assuring them that the entire ECP stood with them in this difficult time. He also prayed for the departed soul, asking Allah Almighty to forgive the deceased, elevate his ranks in the hereafter and grant patience and strength to his family.
