WWE SmackDown Results 10/9/26 W/ Live Updates
WWE Add Wrestling Inc. on Google: Preferred Source Google Discover Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s live coverage of “WWE SmackDown,” emanating from the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Tonight’s show will be the go-home for this weekend’s Money in the Bank event, and is thus advertised as having all of the participants of the Men’s and Women’s eponymous matches under one roof. That means a segment or two involving fields of Trick Williams, Bron Breakker, CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Penta, and Je’Von Evans, as well as Roxanne Perez, Jacy Jayne, Tiffany Stratton, Lash Legend, and Sol Ruca.
In terms of in-ring action, the only bout being billed at the time of writing is a Women’s Tag Team Championship match, Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid defending against Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley.
“WWE SmackDown” is scheduled to start at 8 PM ET and is available to watch on the USA Network for those in the USA, and via Netflix for those watching internationally.
We are live and with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis backstage. They play at the brand rivalry before Bron Breakker and Trick Williams, accompanied by Lil Yachty, enter the frame.
Williams and Breakker get testy with one another before the General Managers decide that they will go one-on-one in the main event.
CM Punk is out first to address his attempt at a third Money in the Bank briefcase this weekend.
Punk mentions that he has been asked why he is even competing in the match at his age, but he draws on his prior experiences with the contract. He scales the ladder as he talks, asking why he shouldn’t do it when he has the opportunity to make history. He has an opportunity to become the first and only three-time Mr. Money in the Bank.
He knows it will not be a cake-walk, and the challengers he has in the upcoming match are, in his opinion, tougher than the reigning WWE Champion. He runs through the different competitors beginning with Je’Von Evans, and then Penta, followed by Trick Williams, Bron Breakker, and finally Kevin Owens.
Owens’ music begins playing to interrupt Punk.
Owens says he has the chance to make Saturday a very successful night for him, winning Money in the Bank and thus a future WWE Championship opportunity, but also because it would prevent Punk from doing so.
Owens says that as long as Punk doesn’t walk out with the contract tomorrow, he will consider it a win.
Punk laughs at the idea that Owens would consider his loss a victory, saying it’s what makes him what he is and why Owens will always be down in the dirt looking up at him.
Owens calls him a delusional pr*** and climbs a ladder to meet him eye-to-eye. He says he sees a man who is not taking that contract, and he will ensure that Punk will not walk out of the show. Then, he will win the briefcase and cash it in on “that b****” Sami Zayn.
Zayn climbs a smaller ladder coming just below Punk and Owens.
“Hi, shorty,” Owens says to his best frenemy.
Zayn says he finds all this disappointing, and that it’s symbolic that he is WWE Champion and he is on the shorter ladder, yet two that are struggling to compete with him are at a higher position than him.
Zayn points out that they don’t just get the title because they win the briefcase, that he is a survivor and the cash-in isn’t going to be a foregone conclusion.
He says he found a way to retain the title over both of them, to which they blame one another. To that he says neither were accidents, that they are exactly alike and it was easy to exploit that.
But, Zayn says, at least Owens can admit his grudge with Punk. He says that neither one of them are going to win Money in the Bank, because they are too enamored with one another, and he will continue to be the Undisputed WWE Champion.
Jacy Jayne and Sol Ruca start the match off with Jayne getting the better of her opponent, however Roxanne Perez makes a blind tag and uses that to take advantage of Jayne in the ring.
Perez looks to drive her into the corner but Jayne reverses it, tagging Legend into the affair. Perez goes to tag out but both Vice and Ruca hop off the apron to leave her stranded.
Perez gives Legend the slip and gets her tag to an unsuspecting Vice.
Vice rocks Legend with strikes and kicks, sending her to the outside of the ring. She leaps from the apron, Legend catches her, but Vice sends her into the ringpost.
Ruca leaps from the apron to take Legend off her feet, Perez joins the fray but gets dropped by Tiffany Stratton. Ruca clears the entire field with a moonsault from the top rope.
