Video shows two men dancing at night as a post claims they are senior ANC members

A video showing two men dancing and laughing on a patio at night has sparked criticism after a social media post allegedly identified them as senior ANC members and accused them of being drunkards who were abusing alcohol while South Africa faces ongoing challenges, including heated immigration debates and concerns about crime. The men appear to be enjoying themselves in the footage, although their identities and whether they had consumed alcohol excessively have not been independently confirmed. The post has drawn mixed reactions.

The source stops short of explaining what the two men were celebrating, since the clip does not show the occasion or what was said between them. The post also does not say where the patio is located or when the footage was recorded. Those details matter because they would establish the context of the gathering and whether the criticism about their conduct has any basis. Without them, the clip shows only the dancing and the accusations attached to it.

Some viewers criticised the men, saying senior party figures should not be seen celebrating while the country faces serious problems and accusing them of setting a poor example in public. Others defended them, saying everyone is entitled to relax and enjoy their personal time and that the criticism was based on assumptions about their identities and their drinking. The reaction split between disapproval of their behaviour and support for their right to a private gathering.

What has not been settled is whether the men have responded to the criticism or whether the ANC has commented on the footage, since neither appears in the material. Their identities and whether they had consumed alcohol excessively have not been independently confirmed, and the post does not establish that they were drinking at all. The public is waiting for more information, because the accusations rest on the post’s description of who the men are and what they were doing.
