Todayโ€™s Headlines: Obi media office to Alake: Tell Nigerians what Tinubu achieved since 2023, Ukraine needs new president who will agree to end war, says Trump

Peter Obiโ€™s Media Office has challenged Dele Alake, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, to explain what the administration has achieved since the 2023 presidential election rather than continue disputing Peter Obiโ€™s claim that he won the poll. In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Idris Zekeri Jnr, the office said Alake and the APC Presidential Campaign Council should shift focus from electoral arguments to accounting for the governmentโ€™s performance and its impact on ordinary Nigerians. The statement questioned the value of the electoral victory, alleging that it has instead brought increased economic hardship, higher living costs, worsening poverty and insecurity. It argued that winning an election is not an end in itself but a mandate to govern effectively, and that leadership should be judged by tangible improvements in peopleโ€™s lives rather than by defending court-affirmed results. While acknowledging that the courts upheld the official outcome, the media office stressed that a legal victory does not equal successful governance or exempt the administration from public scrutiny.

Ukraine needs new president who will agree to end war, says Trump

US President Donald Trump on Saturday urged Ukraine to replace Volodomyr Zelensky with a new leader, lashing out at him for strikes on Russian oil refineries that have contributed to pre-election high diesel prices.

Trump told reporters at the White House that he had told Zelensky to โ€œdo what you wantโ€ against Russia, but โ€œdonโ€™t hit refineries.โ€

โ€œHe better damn well stop,โ€ Trump said, before adding that he thinks โ€œitโ€™s time for Ukraine to get a new presidentโ€ who will agree to end the war.
