Earlier in the contest, Stratton came up short on a Swanton Bomb and appeared to hit her head on the floor. She later fought off Legend at the top of the ladder to claim the briefcase.

After winning Saturday's ladder match, Stratton is now just one victory away from becoming WWE women's champion or women's world champion, and she can cash in that title shot whenever she pleases.

Essentially the entire women's division on Raw, SmackDown and even NXT and AAA wanted a chance to vie for the Money in the Bank contract, and they were given that opportunity through a series of Triple Threat qualifying matches.

Ruca defeated Lyra Valkyria and Maxxine Dupri, Vice took down Kelani Jordan and Raquel Rodriguez, Jayne beat Jade Cargill and Alexa Bliss, Perez prevailed over Iyo Sky and La Catalina, Legend vanquished Charlotte Flair and Giulia, and Stratton outdid Tatum Paxley and Candice LeRae.

The women's Money in the Bank ladder match represented a beacon of opportunity for a field of Superstars in search of their first-ever WWE Women's Championship or Women's World Championship win, aside from Stratton.

As important as winning the men's Money in the Bank ladder match is, it can be argued that holding the women's Money in the Bank contract is even more significant since it has historically meant a certain women's title reign.

The women's Money in the Bank ladder match debuted in 2017, and all nine women who won it before this year's event went on to become champion, although Asuka received the title directly rather than cashing in in 2020.

Stratton was the only wrestler in Saturday's match to have held either the WWE Women's Championship or the Women's World Championship.

She previously won the Money in the Bank ladder match two years ago, and with her latest victory, she is only the second two-time women's Money in the Bank ladder match winner ever, joining Carmella.
