Aduana FC General Manager Takyi Arhin has issued a heartfelt and unconditional apology to former Black Stars captain André Ayew and the people of Paga following his controversial ‘goat farming’ remark directed at the celebrated Ghanaian footballer.
The outspoken football administrator has apologised for the remark, acknowledging that his comments about the former Marseille, Swansea City and West Ham United forward were wholly inappropriate and inexcusable.
Arhin reportedly suggested that Ayew should invest his money in goat farming in Paga, his hometown, amid widespread media reports linking the former Black Stars captain to a possible bid for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency.
However, Ayew has not publicly announced any intention to contest for the country’s top football administrative position.
In an exclusive email to GHANAsoccernet, Arhin offered an unreserved apology, making it clear that he was not seeking to justify his remarks but to accept responsibility for his unfortunate comment.
“I write to offer my sincere and unconditional apology to André Ayew for the comment,” Arhin told GHANAsoccernet.com
“I do not intend to offer any explanation but apologise profusely. It was just an unfortunate moment”
In a further expression of remorse, the former Bofoakwa Tano, BA Stars and Eleven Wonders top official reaffirmed his respect for Ayew and his family, acknowledging their immense commitment and contribution to Ghanaian football.
“I have absolute respect for André and his family for their remarkable passion, dedication and commitment to Ghana football. I erred,” he added.
Arhin also extended his apology to the people of Paga, admitting that his comment was offensive, demeaning and unacceptable. His message carried a plea for forgiveness from a community whose name became central to the controversy.
“I also wish to apologise to the good people of Paga for the offensive, demeaning and unacceptable comment and hope they find a place in their hearts to forgive me.
“I had no intention of disrespecting a beautiful town which has produced top footballers, including the legendary Abedi Pele.”
The apology marks a public acknowledgement of regret from one of Ghana football’s outspoken administrators, as Arhin seeks forgiveness from Ayew, his family and the people of Paga over words he now admits were ill-judged.
