Report: Trump Says Russia Agreed to Supply Over 300,000 Tons of Diesel to US, Global Markets

According to Anadolu Agency, US President Donald Trump said Russia has agreed to supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to the United States and global markets following talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, predicting falling diesel prices as the US Treasury authorized the Russian fuel supplies.

Trump announced the agreement, describing it as a major energy arrangement that would ease supply pressures. He said additional volumes are planned in the coming months and predicted that diesel prices would decline as a result of the shipments.

The Treasury Department authorized Russian fuel supplies as part of the arrangement, according to Trump, marking a notable shift in US commercial ties with Moscow, which have been heavily restricted by Western sanctions imposed after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Putin said after a phone call with Trump that diesel supplies to the US and global markets will benefit the world economy, framing the additional volumes as a stabilizing measure. He offered no details on pricing, delivery routes, or terms.

The deal drew swift criticism from Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the arrangement an “investment in war,” warning that easing sanctions on Russia without a lasting de-escalation deal would be “obvious weakness.”

It was not immediately clear whether the shipments would require broader sanctions adjustments or fall under existing exemptions, nor which companies would handle transport and delivery. The White House did not release a full readout of the Trump-Putin call, and it remained unclear when the first cargoes would ship.

European allies have yet to respond publicly, and analysts noted the arrangement could complicate Western unity on sanctions if shipments proceed while the war in Ukraine continues.
