Reactions Trail Report That Benue APC Members Involved In Accident While Going For Rally In Nasarawa
Reactions have trailed reports that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State sustained serious injuries after a bus conveying them to a party rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, was involved in a head-on collision on Saturday morning.
The accident, according to VANGUARD, occurred in Lafia, a few kilometres from the venue of the rally. The number of injured delegates had yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report, but those affected were said to have been evacuated to hospitals in the Nasarawa State capital for medical attention.
Dan-Morgan Ihomun, the State Publicity Secretary of the Austin Agada faction of the APC in Benue, confirmed the incident, stating that no life was lost in the crash.
“The accident happened in Lafia and it involved two vehicles. But there was no loss of life. Those who sustained injuries have been rushed to the hospital,” Ihomun said.
The incident has drawn attention to the safety of party delegates travelling for political activities, particularly following a similar accident involving APC members from Benue State earlier this year.
On March 25, 2026, three delegates from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State died, while about 10 others sustained injuries when a bus conveying them from Makurdi to Lafia crashed on their way to attend the APC North-Central Zonal Congress.
The latest incident has renewed concerns over road safety during political journeys, although details of the circumstances surrounding Saturday’s collision and the condition of the injured delegates had yet to be fully established.
