President Mahama Set to Cut Sod for Modern 81,422m² Accra Convention Centre

President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to cut the sod in the coming weeks for the construction of a new ultra-modern Accra Convention Centre, marking a major investment by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

The development was confirmed in a social media announcement by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications. Located at the Ghana Trade Fair Centre in La, Accra, the expansive 81,422-square-metre facility aims to establish Ghana as a premier destination for regional and international summits, trade exhibitions, and diplomatic events

The multi-purpose complex is designed to house world-class event infrastructure:

The project forms part of SSNIT’s broader portfolio diversification strategy to support national infrastructure development while generating sustainable returns for the pension fund. Beyond enhancing the local hospitality and event management industries, the complex is projected to create direct construction jobs and stimulate local commerce in the Greater Accra enclave.

Official details regarding project timelines and construction budgets are expected to be announced during the official ground-breaking ceremony.
