Real Madrid superstar might be ‘annoyed by club’s backing of Mbappe for Ballon d’Or – report

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior could be frustrated by the club’s reported support for Kylian Mbappe in the Ballon d’Or race, raising further questions about the relationship between the two attacking stars.

The situation is reportedly contributing to concerns about possible divisions within the dressing room as the Spanish giants struggle to return to their best form.

Real Madrid have endured a disappointing campaign in terms of trophies, reducing their presence in discussions surrounding the Ballon d’Or. Mbappe, however, has continued to strengthen his individual credentials with impressive goalscoring displays across competitions.

The French forward has emerged as the leading scorer in several major tournaments he has participated in. However, his failure to win silverware with either Real Madrid or France remains a potential obstacle to his hopes of claiming football’s most prestigious individual award.

Last month, reports emerged that Mbappe was unhappy with Real Madrid’s reluctance to publicly support his Ballon d’Or ambitions. The latest development has now sparked fresh speculation about the club’s position and its impact on the relationship between the forwards.

According to journalist Mario Cortegana, a source close to a player who has good relationships with both Mbappe and Vinicius suggested that the Brazilian could be unhappy with the club’s backing of his teammate.

However, it remains uncertain whether Vinicius’ reported feelings have influenced Real Madrid’s stance on the award.

Mbappe’s arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu was expected to strengthen the team’s attack and complement Vinicius, with both players anticipated to form a partnership capable of delivering major trophies.

Their collaboration, however, has not consistently met expectations, while Vinicius has also experienced a decline in his standing.

With Real Madrid struggling to regain their previous standards, resolving any potential tensions between the forwards could prove important as the club seeks to restore unity and return to winning ways.
