Portugal makes final decision on Ronaldo’s return to national team
The President of the Portuguese Football Federation, PFF, has revealed that the 41-year-old will return to the team in November.
He said the Portugal superstar will be part of the squad for the next FIFA international break.
The PFF confirmed Ronaldo’s suspension and announced on Saturday that a disciplinary case had been opened against him.
Ronaldo has been “provisionally suspended” and is awaiting the final verdict in the case.
Following his decision to leave the team ahead of one of their UEFA Nations League games, the 41-year-old reportedly suggested in a public statement that he should be punished, while apologising for leaving the national team camp.
However, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, the PFF president said the Al-Nassr captain was already on his way back to the team.
The PFF boss said, “The Federation, the coach, all the teammates are aligned: we want Cristiano back. I expect him back already during the November international break.
“Cristiano is also willing to return. He’s the best of all time.”
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 1,980th career goal on Friday in Al-Nassr’s Saudi Super League victory.
