Pantami Breaks Silence After INEC Omits His Name From Gombe Governorship List

According to a report by Daily Trust on Saturday, October 10, 2026, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has reacted to the omission of his name from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s final list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election, assuring supporters that efforts are underway to address the situation.

Pantami’s name was absent from the list released by the electoral commission on Saturday, raising concerns among members of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Pantamiyya Movement. The former minister left the All Progressives Congress in May before joining the opposition party.

In a statement signed by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe and circulated through Pantami’s social media accounts, his camp described the development as a temporary setback rather than a final decision on his political ambition.

The statement alleged that some individuals were working to undermine the emergence of responsible leadership in the state, while urging supporters not to lose confidence in the process.

“We are aware of the people working behind the scenes to frustrate good and responsible leadership in Gombe State,” the statement said.

Pantami’s camp disclosed that its legal and liaison teams were engaging with relevant officials of the PDP and INEC to ensure compliance with a court order and have the omission addressed within the period permitted by law.

The statement expressed confidence that the matter would be resolved and called on supporters to sustain their mobilisation efforts. It also maintained that the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement remained united in pursuing their political objectives in Gombe State.
