Nigerian Striker Wins Serie B Goal Award

Nigerian striker David Okereke has been named the Serie B Goal of the Month winner for September, reports Completesports.com.

The Benevento forward clinched the individual accolade with a stunning 30-metre strike in his side’s 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona.

With the encounter tied at 1-1, the 29-year-old received the ball outside the penalty area in the 59th minute before unleashing a powerful right-footed effort into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Nicola Leali with no chance.

The spectacular finish marked Okereke’s first goal in four league appearances for the Yellow and Reds this season.

He emerged ahead of Modena striker Andrea Belotti, and Cremonese youngster Adin Ličina to claim the award.

Okereke joined Benevento on a free transfer in August following his departure from fellow Serie B side Cremonese.
