“Mimi Ndio Nitatoa Huyu Natembeya, I Am The Incoming Governor” Former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa Vow
Former Kiminini MP Dr Chris Wamalwa has declared his intention to unseat Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, saying he is ready to take over the county’s leadership in the 2027 General Election.
Wamalwa made the remarks during the national Mazingira Day celebrations at Elgon Downs in Endebess, an event attended by President William Ruto.
Addressing the gathering, Wamalwa criticised Natembeya’s administration, arguing that it had failed to deliver the development residents expected.
He openly declared himself the incoming governor, signalling his determination to challenge the incumbent in the next election.
Wamalwa also used the event to express support for President Ruto’s administration, praising its agricultural policies and efforts to reduce the cost of farm inputs.
He cited the reduction in fertiliser prices from KSh 7,000 to KSh 2,000, saying the lower cost had eased the financial burden on farmers.
The former lawmaker urged residents to support Ruto’s re-election bid, highlighting agriculture as a key issue for the region.
Beyond politics and farming, Wamalwa called on the national government to establish a fully-fledged university in Trans Nzoia County. He said the institution would expand access to higher education, create opportunities for young people and support the county’s development.
He also welcomed leaders from Kiminini, Saboti and Cherang’any, highlighting the importance of grassroots mobilisation as he pursues his gubernatorial ambitions.
Wamalwa’s declaration places him among those seeking to challenge Natembeya for the county’s top seat in 2027.
