Man United make final contract offer for 16-year-old prodigy amid Real Madrid interest
Manchester United have reportedly made a final contract offer to teenage sensation JJ Gabriel as Real Madrid and several other European clubs prepare to battle for the youngster’s signature.
According to a report published by Madrid Universal on Friday, October 9, 2026, Manchester United have submitted a scholarship contract proposal in a final attempt to persuade the 16-year-old forward to remain at Old Trafford despite reports suggesting that he wants to leave the club.
The situation has attracted interest from several European powerhouses, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. However, Real Madrid are reportedly in the strongest position to secure the services of the highly rated youngster.
Gabriel, who recently celebrated his 16th birthday, has reportedly not participated in Manchester United training sessions for more than three weeks.
His age and possession of a European passport could make it possible for him to join another European club as early as January.
Manchester United’s latest proposal is aimed at safeguarding the club’s interests and ensuring that any potential departure follows the appropriate procedures.
Under Premier League regulations governing young players, Manchester United were required to offer Gabriel a formal scholarship agreement for the upcoming season. This would help prevent him from joining another English club without an agreed compensation arrangement.
With the offer reportedly submitted, any Premier League side hoping to sign the teenager would have to negotiate a transfer fee directly with Manchester United.
Should both parties fail to reach an agreement, the Professional Football Compensation Committee could step in to determine the appropriate compensation payable to the Red Devils.
Manchester United are reportedly hoping to receive more than £3 million in training compensation if the dispute proceeds to a tribunal. The club would also seek to include a clause granting them 20 per cent of Gabriel’s future transfer fee.
However, a move outside England could produce a different outcome. According to the report, FIFA regulations could restrict Manchester United’s compensation to approximately £350,000, equivalent to around €400,000.
Real Madrid are believed to be the leading candidates to sign Gabriel, although interest from other major European clubs could make the situation more complicated.
Losing the talented youngster would be a significant setback for Manchester United, who have invested considerable resources in his development through their academy system.
