Kenyans React After Rachel Ruto Reveals What is Happening At State House Every Friday
Kenya’s First Lady, Rachel Ruto, has triggered debate on social media after disclosing that overnight prayer meetings are held at State House in Nairobi every Friday.
In remarks reported by Kenyans.co.ke on its official Facebook page, Rachel stated that prayers are organised in government offices and various other places. She also revealed that State House hosts a weekly kesha, a Christian overnight prayer vigil.
Rachel said her intention was not to boast but to emphasise the role of prayer in the country’s leadership.
“Kenya’s leadership loves God. We have prayers in government offices, we have prayers everywhere. We even hold ‘kesha’ at State House every Friday. I am not saying this to brag,” she said.
Her comments have drawn criticism from some Kenyans on Facebook.
While some accused the government of betraying the public, others claimed that President William Ruto might fail to secure a second term.
