Iran: This War Is Not Working, We Are Losing, There Is A Cover Up Campaign Underway Right Now–Murphy

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Friday, October 9, 2026, US Democratic Senator Chris Murphy has described Washington’s war against Iran as a “national humiliation,” criticising the conflict over its impact on American security, rising costs and alleged lack of transparency.

In a post on X, Murphy argued that the military campaign was undermining US interests instead of making the country safer.

“It’s making us less safe and driving up prices on everything,” he wrote.

The senator also accused US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth of restricting his access to American military installations and military leaders during a recent visit to the Middle East. Murphy alleged that the restrictions were intended to prevent him from discovering the true situation surrounding the war.

Murphy questioned the effectiveness of the military operation, expressing concern over its progress and warning that the United States was suffering significant setbacks.

“This war is not working, we are losing,” he said.

He further alleged that officials were attempting to hide the consequences of the conflict from the public, particularly its financial and military costs.

“There is a cover up campaign underway right now, so the American people don’t see the actual cost of this war,” Murphy added.

The Democratic senator also highlighted what he described as extensive damage to American military installations across Gulf countries, claiming the destruction had caused billions of dollars in losses.

He called for greater transparency regarding the damage sustained by US military bases and criticised the reported restrictions preventing lawmakers from inspecting the affected facilities.

“Not a single member of Congress is allowed in [to US bases] to see that damage because Trump doesn’t want Americans to know what a debacle this has been,” Murphy said.
