Premier League action returns to Stamford Bridge this afternoon after three long weeks of the international break, with Chelsea hosting Bournemouth. The international break, while frustrating for many fans, came at an ideal time for Xabi Alonso as his side was hit with a burgeoning injury crisis last month. Moises Caicedo had played barely a quarter of an hour of football on the season, Reece James had done his hamstring, and Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer were both carrying injuries.

Three weeks of R&R means they are back to full strength today, though, as they face a winless Bournemouth. Marco Rose has endured a tough start to the new campaign as he struggles to fill the shoes of Andoni Iraola, taking just three points from his opening five league matches. Things will get no easier for him here in west London, either, as he faces the Blues without the benefit of Alex Scott, Justin Kluivert or Eli Junior Kroupi.

GOAL! Henderson screamer gives Blues early lead Live updates

GettyGettyHALF TIME: Chelsea 2-0 BournemouthThere’s the half-time whistle!

45+2mins: And it is another fine save from Martinez! Truffert’s cross reaches Antonio Silva and is well placed, but the Argentine leaps across the face of goal to preserve Chelsea’s clean sheet.

45+1mins: Brooks does well to bring a long ball under control and send a cross for Evanilson, but Colwill makes a well-timed intervention to put it behind for a corner.

45mins: Rayan sends a nice cross to the back post in search of Evanilson, but he cannot steer it goalwards.

42mins: Rogers does brilliantly to get away from Adams and threads a through-ball towards Joao Pedro, but just slightly overcooks it and Petrovic makes the claim.

40mins: Another toothless Bournemouth set piece comes to nothing. Neto attempts to counter but is caught out by a lack of support.

A punch to the air from Martinez. Not really justified, in my opinion. He should have saved both and did.

35mins: DOUBLE SAVE! Emi Martinez does well to deny Rayan one-on-one and gets to his feet quickly to do the same to Christie! A pair of smart, if routine stops.
