Arsenal Star Suffers Ankle Injury After Leeds United Win

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Saturday October 10, 2026, Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie has suffered an ankle knock during the post-match warm-down following the Gunners’ 2-1 comeback victory over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.

The Ecuadorian defender will be monitored over the coming days as Mikel Arteta assesses his fitness ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures.

Arsenal secured all three points after recovering from a difficult first half. Riccardo Calafiori and substitute Bruno Guimaraes scored in the second half to overturn Leeds’ advantage.

The victory came after Arsenal suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break. It also handed Leeds their first Premier League loss of the campaign.

The visitors started strongly and restricted Arsenal to just one shot on target in the opening half. James Justin subsequently put Leeds ahead ten minutes after the restart.

Noni Madueke delivered a cross into the box, and Ben White headed the ball across goal before Calafiori found the net. The goal marked the Italian left-back’s first league strike since August 2025.

Guimaraes completed the comeback in the 70th minute, just five minutes after entering the game. His decisive finish followed an attacking move involving Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice. It was also his first goal at the Emirates Stadium.

The victory lifted Arsenal to 15 points, level with Manchester City, who occupy the top position on goal difference.

However, Hincapie’s latest fitness concern has created another issue for Arteta. According to HandofArsenal, the defender picked up the ankle problem during the warm-down after the match.

The 24-year-old had only recently recovered from a muscular injury that prevented him from joining Ecuador’s squad during the international break. Arteta confirmed his availability ahead of the Leeds encounter.

Hincapie provides valuable cover at both left-back and centre-back. Arsenal are also monitoring William Saliba, who has been recovering from a back fracture.
