Angel Reese, ‘A Different World’ cast link at WNBA semis has fans calling for cameo

It was a big night in the WNBA Playoffs, with the Finals matchup officially set after Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream swept the New York Liberty and punched their ticket to the championship series.

Reese and the Dream will face off against the favorites to win the title, the Golden State Valkyries, but first there had to be a little celebration.

After Friday night’s game, Reese took time to celebrate with several of the courtside celebrities and went viral for an interaction with some of Netflix’s hottest stars.

Reese linked up with Maleah Moon and Cornell Young IV from the Netflix hit series A Different World, which is currently the No. 3-ranked global show on the streaming service for a second week, with more than 5.1 million views and 37.9 million streaming hours in the past week.

Fans immediately started joking that the interaction would lead to a cameo in season two of the series, which wouldn’t be a bad idea because of the show’s Atlanta ties.

The sitcom follows students at the fictional HBCU Hillman College, and is filmed at real-life HBCUs in the Atlanta area, including Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University. If you’re familiar with Atlanta, you’ll also recognize hotspots like Tongue & Groove.

But first, Reese and the Dream will be focusing on taking care of business against the Valkyries when the best-of-7 series kicks off next weekend on Saturday, October 17, at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
