Alonso reportedly assures Estevão He will get more chances at Chelsea.
According to a report from FootballTransfers, on Saturday October 10, 2026, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has promised Estevão more playing time as speculation grows that the young Brazilian could consider leaving the club next year.
The 18-year-old has started twice in the Carabao Cup but has featured for only 23 minutes in the Premier League.
His brief appearance in Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Brentford before the international break fuelled reports that he was unhappy with his limited role, with Barcelona said to be monitoring his situation.
Chelsea reportedly have no intention of selling Estevão, whose estimated transfer value is €110.9 million. The player has also played down concerns, saying he is focused on training, improving and making the most of his opportunities.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s return to action, Alonso said the winger was recovering from the injury that cut short his previous season and would be eased into the team.
“Este is feeling much better,” Alonso said. “We know how important he can be in certain games. He will have his moments and more minutes.”
Alonso acknowledged that adapting to the Premier League takes time, particularly for a young player.
Estevão has had more opportunities with Brazil, but the Chelsea manager said the club understands his potential and expects him to contribute as the season progresses.
