Yemen’s Houthi movement has threatened to impose a blockade on all Saudi airports, invoking an “airport-for-airport” strategy in response to restrictions on airports in Houthi-controlled territory. The group says its actions are retaliation for Saudi strikes on Sanaa International Airport and Hodeidah airport, as fighting intensifies in western Yemen near the strategically important Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The warning comes amid wider tensions over maritime access and transport routes across the Middle East. A threat to impose an air blockade does not mean Saudi airports have been shut.
