88-year-old Natchez man arrested on drug and firearm charges
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office arrested Prentiss Green after a search of his Natchez home uncovered drugs, paraphernalia, and loaded firearms.
Agents with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group, working alongside the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, executed a search warrant at 16 Beaumont Street in Natchez.
During the operation, authorities found marijuana, several digital scales containing white rock residue that tested positive for crack cocaine, and three loaded firearms, including two 9mm handguns and a loaded .22-caliber long rifle.
Green was taken into custody and charged with the sale of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and three counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He was transported to the Adams County Jail for processing.
"Let me make something perfectly clear: Crime does not have an age limit, and neither does accountability," Sheriff Travis Patten said in a statement. "It doesn’t matter if you’re 18, 48, or 88 years old. If you’re involved in criminal activity in Adams County, you are not exempt from being investigated or arrested simply because of your age."
Patten went on to thank MBI for partnering with ACSO to make the county safer.
"We’re not slowing down. We’re not looking the other way. And we’re certainly not making exceptions based on age. Let this arrest serve as another reminder that the Adams County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting our citizens, responding to their concerns, and holding those who violate our laws accountable," Patten said. "You can grow old in Adams County, but you cannot grow too old to be held accountable under the law."
Sheriff Patten said the arrest underscores the department’s dedication to addressing criminal activity and ensuring community safety.
