The 11th Nigeria Mining Week, with the theme “Unlocking Investment and Growth through Partnerships” is targeting investment, critical minerals growth amid the rising demand of energy transition.

The event, organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN), will bring together more than 3,000 participants, 90 sponsors and exhibitors alongside global mining stakeholders to explore investment and growth opportunities in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.

This iis according to a statement by MAN’s Marketing Consultant, Bunmi Aliyu, on Saturday in Abuja.

Aliyu said global experts and mining firms would discuss critical minerals, while stakeholders from Business Sweden, Zambia EITI and Tanzania’s mining industry would focus on trade, transparency and inclusion.

“This year’s line-up brings capital, market intelligence and policy expertise to Abuja from across the globe,” she said.

The National Chairman of MAN, Dele Ayankale, said that developing Nigeria’s mining sector required collaboration, which the Mining Week would facilitate by connecting investors and operators.

“No single party can carry the weight of the transformation Nigeria requires, each has been designed to move us from discussion to practical outcomes and direct engagement between operators and investors.”

Ayankale said the platform had remained a catalyst for dialogue, reform and innovation, bridging the gap between policy and practice, operators and investors as well as ideas and implementation.

He said Nigeria had recorded progress in exploration, artisanal mining formalisation, investment inflows and the adoption of modern technologies to promote sustainability.

Similarly, Cyril Azobu, Partner and Mining Industry Leader at PwC Nigeria, said Nigeria must position itself as a destination for investment, processing and value addition rather than merely a source of raw minerals in an increasingly competitive global market.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event will feature seven strategic forums including deal rooms and technical workshops designed to promote practical solutions and direct engagement between operators and investors.

Discussions will cover Nigeria’s role in global battery, magnet and electric vehicle supply chains, the gold value chain, integrated steel production, iron ore supply and industrial minerals.

NAN further reports that the Women in Extractive Industries Forum will examine technical, operational and leadership opportunities for women in the mining sector, among other issues.

The 11th edition of Nigeria Mining Week will hold from Oct. 12 to Oct. 14 in Abuja.

It is organised by MAN in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria, with the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) as transparency partner. (NAN)
