What Tinubu’s Gov’t Are Presenting Is Tinubu’s House Of Commotion. It Doesn’t Make Any Sense—Adebayo

The 2027 presidential candidate of the SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has argued that what the President Bola Tinubu and his government are presenting concerning economic policy is Tinubu’s House of Commotion, and it doesn’t make any sense in any way.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Adebayo made this statement when he was asked about those not happy with the policy of President Tinubu and the APC-led government about fuel subsidy and how it’s handle.

He said when the policy was announced, it immediately reminded him of a series on television in the 90s called Fuji House of Commotion. He said there is no account established in the Ministry of Finance that deals with petrol discount accounts.

He said their policy is not even short-term; it is flash in a moment, not medium-term, not long-term, as they did not refer to any law that authorizes them to do what they are doing. He said, to him, it appears the government is genuinely now and sincerely confused because there are four problems they have created for themselves.

He explained before giving a discount on fuel prices, they are affecting what is called the profit and loss account of NNPC. He asked why Tinubu’s government does not call his own party to a meeting to teach them how to do it in a few months they have left.

Adebayo noted that problem number one is how to manage profit and loss, what happens if costs keep rising, and what happens after 30 days when they come back to say marketers are going to absorb costs, whether they are financing marketers and for what account.

He said there are four factors governing the cost of petrol, 51 to 55 percent is the price of crude, 11 to 25 percent depending on the type of crude, and the location of the refinery. He said the next is the cost of distribution and marketing, taxes, and other costs, including finance costs.

In his statement, “I saw the visual, I heard of the policy or the statement, I don’t know; there’s no plan behind it, so I can’t know whether it’s a policy or whether it’s a gesture.”

“But it immediately reminds me of that; there used to be a series on television in the 90s called Fuji House of Commotion. Now, what they are presenting is Tinubu’s House of Commotion. It doesn’t make any sense in any way.”
