Today’s Headlines: Tinubu’s Govt Created Four Problems – SDP’s Adebayo; Trump rules out new Iran attack before US midterm elections
The Social Democratic Party, SDP, presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, on Friday, accused the Nigerian government of exhibiting signs of confusion with the fuel pricing discount incentive.
Adebayo said the Nigerian government created four problems with the announcement of fuel pricing discount.
His remark comes as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, announced a 30-day fuel price discount at all Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, filling stations across the country.
The SDP presidential candidate, while featuring on Channels Television’s Inside Sources, said: “So, long and short, it looks to me like the government is genuinely and sincerely confused because there are four problems that they have created for themselves.
President Donald Trump on Thursday ruled out attacking Iran before the US midterm elections on November 3, saying Washington was holding “productive discussions” with Tehran.
Trump’s post on his Truth Social platform followed a surge in oil prices on Thursday driven by media reports suggesting potential new US strikes prior to those elections.
“I want to make it clear to everybody that, while Iran is in very bad condition, both Economically and Militarily, and while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect…we will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the Midterm Elections,” he wrote.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has extended its N66-per-litre petrol discount to October 31, giving motorists three additional weeks of relief amid rising fuel prices linked to the Middle East conflict.
The oil firm said the discount, introduced on October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, will continue throughout October at its retail outlets nationwide.
The extension followed the Federal Government’s renewed efforts to cushion the impact of elevated global crude oil prices on households, businesses and the wider economy.
The government announced on Thursday that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited would forgo its retail profit margin on petrol and sell it to Nigerians at a discounted cost as part of measures to cushion households from global crude oil price shocks.
