Super Falcons Face Comoros Today In First Leg Of 2028 Olympic Qualifier
According to a report by Premium Times on Friday, October 9, 2026, the Super Falcons will begin their quest for a second consecutive Olympic appearance today when they face Comoros in the first leg of their second-round African qualifying tie for the Los Angeles 2028 women’s football tournament.
Kick-off is at 6pm Nigerian time at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State. The return leg will be played at the same venue on Tuesday, October 13. Comoros are the designated home team in the first leg, but the match was moved to Nigeria because the island nation does not have a CAF-approved stadium, according to Nigfooty.
Premium Times reported that the game is interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen’s first official assignment in charge of the Super Falcons.
Naija News reported that captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and defender Michelle Alozie joined the camp in Ijebu Ode earlier this week. Midfielder Jennifer Echegini and forward Folashade Ijamilusi arrived with them, taking the number of players in camp to 22. The Comoros team arrived in Nigeria on Monday night.
Sports247 reported that Nigeria Football Federation interim General Secretary Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme visited the camp and urged the players to put the disappointment of missing the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup behind them and focus on securing a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Comoros reached this round with a 30-0 aggregate win over Sudan, winning 17-0 and then 13-0, according to Nigfooty. The Super Falcons, ten-time African champions, will go into the tie as favourites.
