RIP : Popular actor’ cause of death revealed

The family of the iconic actor Mfana Jones Hlophe has shared the news of his passing in a heartfelt statement released on Friday, October 9, 2026.

Hlophe, a beloved figure from the show Generations, follows in the footsteps of fellow actor Seputla Sebogodi, who sadly left us in July 2026. His brother, Bonani Mambi, spoke to Daily Sun, revealing that Hlophe passed away on the evening of October 7, 2026, at Charlotte Mxeke Hospital in Johannesburg after a prolonged struggle with Type 1 diabetes.

Mambi explained, “He battled with Type 1 diabetes, and there were times he didn’t realize he hadn’t eaten, leading to serious complications when he couldn’t move.” Tragically, Hlophe was alone when he fell ill, and it was only when his partner returned from work that she discovered him in distress. It remains uncertain whether he succumbed to his condition en route to the hospital or upon arrival.

The SABC1 soap opera Generations: The Legacy expressed their sorrow on Instagram, stating, “On behalf of the producers, cast, and crew, we are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Mr. Mfana Jones Hlophe. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family during this difficult time. #Thumbeza, kamyeni ntombi zenda ngonyezi.”

Fans of Generations are mourning the loss of the actor, with Skeem Saam actress Hellen__bright sharing, “I just saw him a few days ago on set.” Other tributes poured in, with Washington_ndlovu_ saying, “Rest in peace, king. For us who were close to you, we will always remember you.” Many others echoed similar sentiments, expressing disbelief and sorrow over his passing.
