Prepare for 24 Hours of Heavy Morning and Afternoon Rainfall if You Live in These Regions
The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has predicted rainfall across several parts of the country on Saturday, October 10, with some areas expected to experience showers in the morning and afternoon.
In its forecast released on Friday evening, October 9, KMD said parts of Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu counties would receive moderate showers in the morning before lighter rainfall sets in during the afternoon.
Taita Taveta County is also expected to experience moderate morning showers, followed by lighter rainfall later in the day. In Tana River County, some areas are likely to receive light showers in both the morning and afternoon.
The department listed Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Laikipia and Nairobi among the other areas likely to receive rainfall during the day.
However, the intensity of the showers will vary across the affected counties. Parts of Kitui, Murang’a, Kiambu and Nairobi are expected to experience moderate afternoon rainfall, while other locations within the same counties may receive lighter showers.
Elsewhere, residents in Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana, West Pokot, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, Kericho and Bomet can expect sunny intervals in the morning, followed by possible afternoon showers.
The forecast also includes Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira counties. Some areas in these regions are likely to experience sunshine before rainfall develops later in the afternoon.
KMD has also warned of possible thunderstorms in parts of West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Kericho, Bomet and several counties in western Kenya. The storms may bring light afternoon showers accompanied by thunder and lightning.
In Kisii and Nyamira counties, some locations are expected to receive moderate afternoon showers alongside thunderstorms, while other areas may experience lighter rainfall.
Residents in the affected regions are advised to monitor official weather updates and take precautions, especially in areas where thunderstorms are expected.
